Devotional Series – Are you with me?
Jesus asks, “Are you with me?” As believers we have all come to Jesus and made Him the Lord of our lives.
When difficult situations arise, or a diagnosis we didn’t expect with circumstances beyond our control happen, we may question God, ourselves and our faith. Difficult times bring you to your knees, to pray, to get wisdom and direction. But we know that God is with us, and we are with Him.
Instead of angrily (in thoughts, words and actions) getting upset with God as rough situations happen, we can turn to Him and say “Help me Lord in this situation, I am upset, this isn’t right, or it isn’t fair, and I need your help.”
Deciding ahead of time I am not going to turn against God but turn towards God is my protocol. Every single time. I’ve decided a long time ago I am living for the Lord, and never walking away, never turning away but always living for Jesus.

This helps me every time decide how to handle unexpected heartbreak and painful situations. I am living for Jesus. So, my prayers come from that foundation. I turn towards Him for direction, help and strength, I don’t turn away.
There is not a point where I would say ‘well if God answers my prayer this way, then I will follow Him wholeheartedly’, but if not there is going to be trouble. That isn’t my foundation. Rather it is a heart that cleaves to the Lord. I am ‘following’ Him.

God says when we call on Him, He will help us. Every single time.
Psalm 50:15, “and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”
This is the protocol of the believer’s life.
Call on the Lord.
He said He will help us. And we know from His Word in Numbers 23:19, that “God is not a liar.” We can trust Him and trust His Word.
Numbers 23:19, “God is not man, that he should lie,
or a son of man, that he should change his mind.
Has he said, and will he not do it?
Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?”

Psalm 118:5, “Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free.”
Psalm 138:3, “On the day I called, you answered me; my strength of soul you increased.”
Mark 8:34, “And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 35 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it.”

God is saying ‘Are you with me?’ And so is the world. We yield daily to God’s direction and purpose for our lives repenting of sins. We ask God to cleanse us when we make a mess and need Him to help us. The world is also clamoring for us to follow them, their way and their will.
God gives us the choice to follow Him. To live for Him, serve Him, be on His team and to walk with Him.
We have that choice, and we as believers have said ‘yes’.
Joshua 24:15, “but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

However, when we continue to face difficulties, we are not to be surprised. We say ‘yes’.
‘Yes’ to God. We turn to Him for help, wisdom and direction.
I Peter 4:12,13, “Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial, which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; 13 but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.”
The protocol is this:
Don’t be surprised at difficult seasons-
Rejoice in the Lord-
Serve the Lord-
God is asking ‘are you with me?’ And our response is ‘yes, we are with you.’ James 4:7,8 gives us the protocol for living for God – “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” Also, put on the Armor of God (Ephesians 6)

Submit to God, don’t quit or give up-
Resist the devil, get him out of your life, your home, and your future. Put on the Armor of God so you are prepared and not shocked when the enemy causes commotion.
Draw near to God – Pray, seek and follow.
Follow Jesus Christ as your Lord, He hasn’t left you during the difficult season.
Deuteronomy 31:6, “Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Call on the Lord and He will answer. (Jeremiah 33:3)
And again, Jesus is now asking you “Are you with me?”
“Yes Lord, yes we are with you. As for me and my house we will serve you!”
Tomorrow I am going to share some wonderful insight on our walk with God. Stay tuned.
To God Be All the Glory,
