Waiting on the Lord and praying for an answer. A glimpse inside waiting and praying.

Waiting- there is purpose in the wait. We are praying and hoping for a breakthrough and an answer to our request.
Purpose in the Waiting
God says that while we wait He will renew our strength. However there is a certain way to wait. It is not with fussing, being impatient, throwing a fit (this is how my mom would say it) and being upset during the entire waiting period.

Isaiah 40:31, “Yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.”
While we are waiting-
Psalm 27:14, “Wait for the Lord; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord.”
Psalm 37:34, “Wait for the Lord and keep His way, And He will exalt you to inherit the land;”

Psalm 37:7, “Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him;
Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,”
Lamentations 3:25, “The Lord is good to those who wait for Him,
To the person who seeks Him.”
Psalm 33:20, “Our soul waits for the Lord;
He is our help and our shield.”
Strength in the Waiting

There is strength in the waiting. The Lord is good to those who trust Him and wait. He is faithful to those who wait. Waiting and praying bring our hearts closer to God. We need Him to help us and to answer our prayers. As we are waiting we lean in to see what He will say, and to watch what He will do.
Growing up in the ministry I watched how the simple process of living for Jesus Christ each day was lived out.
Each day my parents Dick and Betty Mills, would get up and have prayer time and devotions. They would get their coffee, then read and study their Bibles, a devotional or study commentary and start their day.
I remember getting up hearing my parents making kitchen noises: coffee, talking or praying quietly, and then skillets banging as breakfast began to be made.
Always the same. But what came from that was monumental.

Praying, Waiting and Living
My parents loved the Lord and they would pray, wait and live each day for the Lord. They also taught my brother and I to love the Lord. Not forcibly but by their example. Praying, waiting and living.
They prayed, they laughed and loved each other, they read their Bible and then they went to work. Simple in the mundane sense, but remarkable when looked at a life living for Jesus and the fruit from their daily choices.
Peoples lives were changed. Scriptures spoken and prophetic words uttered by both of my parents had a profound effect on people and the direction they often took after those words were spoken.
I will pray, out loud, write down my questions, and then ask the Lord to show me what I am to do. Specifics. Then I pray, ask, and thank Him for showing me CLEARLY so I don’t miss any details.
This is what happens next-
I get the answers often when I am reading the Bible….devotional Bible study, scripture reading….and a thought, idea, answer, sentence will come to me during this time.

While I am reading the Bible, clarity, direction and answers come to me.
Another way is that I will be watching a message, training, sermon online or on tv, etc. Someone will begin speaking and it will give me an answer of what I needed to know but didn’t know. With details. And I will think “there is my answer!”
The point is that the answers come, and when they do I am ready because I am expecting them to come.
Do not disregard the period of waiting in your life. During that time ask for His provision, His help, His strength, wisdom and guidance.
Isaiah 41:10, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Isaiah 30:18, “Therefore the Lord longs to be gracious to you,
And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; How blessed are all those who long for Him.”
The Lord values waiting. The Lord also values praying. We cannot get angry at God and decide not to pray. Those are our ways to grow closer to the Lord.
Father in Jesus Name, we come in together in agreement that you would hasten to perform your Word in our lives (Jeremiah 1:12). We believe your Word, and know that there is power in your Word (Hebrews 4:12). Lord God as we wait on you and pray, seeking your will for our lives, your direction and breakthrough, we pray that you would strengthen us, empower and fill us with your Holy Spirit (Acts 2:4). Let us see what we need to see, find out what we need to find out, learn what we need to learn so that we can do what we need to do. God we trust you and know you are faithful. You are not a liar (Numbers 23:19) and what you have spoken you will do. (Ezekiel 12:25,28).
We pray all these things in the matchless Name that is above every Name, the Name that makes the demons tremble, the Name that brings healing, wholeness, and salvation to our lives and to our days. In the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.
To God Be All the Glory.
