Hello Everyone. Waiting on the Lord, what does that mean? God speaks HIs words to us through the Bible, through verses and promises. We get a picture of HIs plan for us and our lives yet we seem to wait for some of these promises to come to pass or realization in our life.

Isaiah 25:9, “We have waited for Him and He will save us. We have waited for Him.”

Waiting
Waiting – The good news is God is faithful during the waiting season.
I remember praying, really fussing, at God for a prayer I had been praying for some time reminding Him of my prayers. How I had asked multiple times, believed Him for the prayer to be answered.
Praying I asked Him, “Why am I having to wait for so long?” He showed me that not all the puzzle pieces were in place together.
I was reminded of my parents, praying in front of me. Sometimes my dad would pray “Lord speak to us and show us what you want us to do, and until then we will stay busy doing what we know we should be doing.”
I would look at them and think ‘is that it?’ Aren’t you going to sit in a room and wait, or fast, or something more spiritual?
My parents always smiled at me when explaining things to me. I am sure my responses tickled them.
Waiting and the Process
My dad would respond and say “God will show us what to do. He always answers us.” I asked more questions and wanted to know how they would know when they got their answer.
My dad said because God is waiting for me to ask, and then he will give me the answer and I’ll know it is him. It may be in a phone call with a friend or family member, it may be a sentence in a book I read, or it may come from your mom. He chuckled, and she replied “I heard that!”
“The point is the answer is specific and clear to the question. God answers me every time.” Dick Mills
That was amazing to me.
He knew God, knew His character and His process after serving Him for so many years. One thing was for sure, He knew God would answer him every time.
What are we waiting for? An answer to a question? Or something more?
Sometimes it is a baby, or spouse, a breakthrough in the form of a new job, new home or new business opportunities. Waiting is part of the process.
As believers we pray and then wait for God to speak or to answer the prayer.

Why do we wait?
We wait because God has spoken to us. God has given us His promises to trust and believe in and He puts a high value on waiting. There is a high value because it speaks to Him that we honor what He has said.
Numbers 23:19, ““God is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that He should repent.
Has He said, and will He not do?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”
Ezekiel 12:28, “Therefore say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “None of My words will be postponed any more, but the word which I speak will be done,” says the Lord God.’ ”

We believe what He has spoken He will do. Waiting on the Lord is trusting in the Lord.
Here are some wonderful promises for you to hope in. To know and to say out loud and be mindful of. God is a God of trust. He is trustworthy. He is faithful. In every area. Known and unknown areas. He is to be trusted.
Psalm 40:1, says “I waited patiently for the Lord and He inclined to me and heard my cry.
Isaiah 25:9, “We have waited for Him and He will save us. We have waited for Him.”
Isaiah 40:31, “Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.”

Psalm 37:7, “Wait on the Lord and keep His way and He shall exalt you to inherit the land.”
Genesis 49:18, “I have waited for you salvation O Lord.”
Psalm 33:20, “Our soul waits for the Lord. He is our help and shield.”
Psalm 130:6, “My soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning.”
Isaiah 33:2, “O Lord be gracious to us. We have waited for you. Be our arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble.”
Lamentations 3:25, “The Lord is good to those who wait for Him to the soul who seeks Him.

Lamentation 3:26, “It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.”
Isaiah 30:18, “Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore He will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!”

Waiting on the Lord is in itself an act of faith. Faith in His character and in His Word.
Ephesians 3:12, “In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of Him.”

Waiting has purpose. God says you won’t be ashamed because you waited.
When the answer to prayers come, the waiting is over and it had purpose. Your faith has purpose. It is not a waste of time. God is still with you He is Emmanuel.
Isaiah 49:23, “For they shall not be ashamed who wait for Me.”
We will pray with you for what you are waiting for. While you wait- pray, seek the Lord and remind yourself of His Word and His promises. Ezekiel 12:28, “Therefore say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “None of My words will be postponed any more, but the word which I speak will be done,” says the Lord God.’ ”
To God Be All the Glory,
Debbie (Mills) Booth
